Overlooking the tower in the center of an ancient village

The village of Castellaro Lagusello recalls in its double name its two most characteristic elements: the castle, erected in the 12th century on a natural rise, is surrounded by walls, interrupted by 9 watchtowers. The heart-shaped lake, formed in a depression between moraine hills, is the only one left south of Lake Garda in Mantua territory, 10 km from Sirmione.

Since 1984 it has been a nature reserve occupying an area of 138.60 hectares called the Castellaro Lagusello Morainic Complex. Listed among Italy's Most Beautiful Villages, it is an oasis of tranquility, biodiversity and gastronomic culture. What gave us all this was the magical interweaving of geography and history.
